GHS2-N-1218 goes on over 39mm and closes to 18mm. Every pair of figures like that was copied off a published datasheet, and this page names whose.
One slice of a cable's life, and one factory behind it
Branch Point covers two moments. The crutch, where a multi-core cable's cores separate and each goes its own way. The transition, where one cable arrives at a connector, a bushing or a bar. A joint, a termination, a gland, a run of tubing between any two of them are all real parts a cable needs. None of them is written about here.
Four words are in circulation for three parts. A breakout closes a crutch and is catalogued by core count, 2 to 7. A boot closes a transition and is catalogued by the diameter at each opening. A shroud and a sleeve cover a bar, which belongs to a different desk. That muddle is the reason this reference exists. It is settled on boot or breakout, and each trade word is glossed once on the terms page.
None of it is made here. Every boot and every breakout named across these pages is moulded in Mumbai by Gala Thermo Shrink Pvt. Ltd., which also publishes this site. It is a Gala Group business trading as Gala Shrink Fit, begun in February 1979 under J.P. Gala and joined in 1993 by Bhavesh Gala, now its Managing Director. A size chart written by the people who mould the sizes is worth reading with that known. The corporate record is on the manufacturer's own profile page.
The moulding capacity behind the size charts
The certificates, and which one is actually about a boot
Each is listed at the scope it was granted. None is stretched over a part it does not name.
- SAE AS81765/1. The Y-type boot is type tested to it. That is the only approval here awarded against a part on this site rather than against the company. What it covers is taken apart on the military spec page.
- MIL-I-81765A. Named on the harness boot datasheets for chemical, solvent, oil and lubricant resistance. A material qualification rather than a fit one. It settles nothing about which bore closes onto which cable.
- ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018. The management systems for quality, for environment, and for occupational health and safety. They govern how the moulding is controlled, and no dimension follows from any of the three.
- UL File E328538 lists the heat-shrink tubes and UL File E335936 lists Busboot and Bustube. No breakout and no harness boot appears under either file, and neither is quoted here on a boot's behalf.
- CPRI, August 2012 — the certificate is for heat-shrink joints and terminations at 33 kV. It belongs to that family, not to this one, even though the anti-tracking breakout is catalogued for 3-core cable to 36 kV.
- MSEDCL approval up to 11 kV in 2015 and from 11 kV to 33 kV in 2016, with PGCIL, State Electricity Board and EDL approvals alongside. Indian utility approvals, at the ranges they name.
- ERDA test report — issued for the busbar sleeve, a product this site does not cover at all.
- AEO T1 status and an Export House Certificate, selling into more than 100 countries through agents, distributors, electric utilities and OEMs. Customs standing; it answers nothing about a diameter.
Two published sources, two temperature limits, unresolved
The cold shrink breakout is rated −40 °C to 105 °C on one of the manufacturer's pages and −40 °C to 90 °C on another. The same four codes and the same selection chart are printed on both. Nothing in the sources held here resolves it, and neither figure has been withdrawn. Both are shown on the cold shrink page with the document each came from named beside it. Until it is settled, the lower of the two is the figure this site works to.
What this site will not print
Every dimension is a pair. As supplied first, recovered second, with the letters the datasheet itself uses attached — a and b on the harness boots, s and f on the breakout charts. A single size is never printed. Reading one end of that pair as the whole answer is the commonest reason a part goes on and then does not seal. The boot size chart works through the convention column by column.
No number appears without a published datasheet behind it. Where a figure is missing, the gap goes on the page in place of an estimate. Low profile is the sharpest instance. Buyers search that phrase against this manufacturer in real volume, and it is printed on none of the 175 datasheets held here. So the right angle and straight boots page prints the absence, and no shallow-moulding chart is assembled out of the standard part's rows.
No competitor cross-reference. Nothing here converts another maker's part number into one of these codes. No such table is published, and none can be reconstructed from a photograph of a moulding. A wrong equivalence sends somebody up a ladder with a part that will not close. Replacing a boot when the number is gone answers that reader with six measurements instead.
Nothing commercial. Prices, lead times, minimum quantities and stock positions appear on no page. No document held here contains one, and this site is not the seller.
Nothing is named before the outlet count is settled. The pages are organised by how many ways the cable goes, because that one question narrows a catalogue from dozens of codes to about three. The breakout hub runs 2 to 7 core; the boot hub sorts by geometry within each count.
Ask about a size, or dispute a figure
Both take the same route. A size question is answered first time when it carries three figures. The core count, the cable diameter over the sheath below the crutch, and one core's diameter after separation. A disputed figure is answered when it carries the page, the code, and the document that reads otherwise.
